Features
Everything ToneMate does with your text
Select text, press a shortcut and pick an action. Pick a model on your Mac or bring your own API key, and use the actions where you already write.
ToneMate is a native macOS app that runs AI actions on the text you select: rewrite, translate, proofread, summarize, expand or shorten, generate, analyze and reply. It can also dictate with speech-to-text, transcribe audio files and, optionally, suggest fixes as you type in the apps you allow. All the actions share one panel, and you choose a local model or your own API key for each.

Frequently asked questions
What can ToneMate do?
It rewrites, translates into 10 languages, proofreads, summarizes, expands or shortens, generates, analyzes and replies to text you select on your Mac. It also dictates, transcribes audio files and offers optional inline suggestions in the apps you allow.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
ToneMate is in free beta: you can download it and request a free license key with no fixed end date, and there is no subscription. It is not on sale yet. The plan for the full version is a one-time purchase that includes 2 licenses; when the first stable version comes out, a 30-day free trial starts.
Is my text sent to a server?
ToneMate never sends your text to its own servers. With a local model your text is processed on your Mac; with a cloud model it goes straight to the provider whose API key you added. The app only contacts ToneMate to check your license.
In which apps does it work?
Wherever you can select, copy and paste text. ToneMate captures your selection with the clipboard, runs the action and inserts the result, then restores what you had copied. We are still checking it app by app, so we do not publish a list of supported apps yet.
